St Ronald have won the 2008 Oxy Cup following a hard and closely fought 17 run victory over the DeC Rebels at DP1. The final unfortunately had to be switched from Mannofield at the eleventh hour due to the Mannofield pitch still suffering from the effects of heavy rain over the weekend. Apart from a light shower during the early part of the match, the weather held out well. Ian Goodenough and Chris Watson were the umpires on the night.

Oxy Cup Final changed from Mannofield to DP1 following pitch inspection at 3.00p.m. Mannofield unplayable. Start time 6.00p.m. Both teams aware. Apologies for this late change for anyone coming along to Mannofield tonight.

Awards still planned to follow the final.

Thank you to all teams who took the time to forward information on their star performers of the year.

There were two main contenders for Batsman of the Year. The winner has been judged to be Martyn Budd from Grammar Hockey. Martyn scored a massive 210 runs this season from only 8 innings, with 5 not out / retirals, equating to an average of 70. A close runner-up was Dan Smith of Inn at the Park, scoring 182 runs from 8 innings, with 5 not out / retirals, equating to an average of 61. Well done to both. Martyn will receive an AECL tankard at the end of season prize ceremony to mark his achievement.

Inn at the Park have secured the league title after the deadline for playing rearranged league matches (5th August inclusive) passed with the match between the Dec Rebels and Dutchmill remaining unplayed (treated as an abandoned match). This meant that Inn at the Park finished the season on 18 points, with both the Dec Rebels and Ellon finishing on 17 points (the Rebels runners up by way of a better margin). At the other end of the table, Caledonian picked up the wooden spoon.
