The current champions DeC Rebels have beaten MCC by 122 runs to move to 12 points and significantly improve their 'margin' over their nearest rivals. Ellon and Inn at the Park also had comprehensive victories over Methlick and Caledonian respectively. Chevron lost ground on the leaders, losing to ATSSC. There were also wins for Grammar 98 and St Ronald.
The Rebels won the toss and reached a total of 160 for 5 at the close, with Vicky (35 no) & Narendra (32 no) retiring for the Rebels. Pick of the bowlers for MCC was Rahul, with 2 for 19. In reply, MCC collapsed and were bowled out for 38 in 11 overs. Pick of the bowlers were Amol (3 for 11 off 4 overs) and Guneet (2 for 15 off 3 overs). A comprehensive victory for the Rebels that takes them to the top of the table by way of a superior margin.
Inn at the Park comfortably beat Caledonian by 8 wickets at DP1. Caledonian batted first and were bowled out for 52 AO (a night when any ball in the air went straight to a fielder). A Smith provided stern resistance for Caley, retiring on 33 no. Pick of the bowlers for the Park were Masud (3 for 4 off 4 overs), Andy C (3 for 10 off 3.4 overs) and WG (2 for 10 off 3 overs). In reply, Caley got off to the perfect start, picking up the wicket of P. Gill in the first over, however the Park comfortably reached 55 for 2 in the 9th over, with Dan Smith (26 no) top scoring for the Park.
A strong Ellon line up gave Methlick a bit of a doing at DP2, winning by 10 wickets. Methlick won the toss and as is customary chose to bat. Leon Borstlapp opened the bowling and was in the wickets straight away bowling S Buchan with the 3rd ball off the game. Methlick found themselves 3 wickets down for only 4 runs at the end of the 4th over. Wickets continued to fall regularly, with only Dean Chowdrey (11) and Sonny (14) providing some resistance. Methlick were dismissed for only 45 in the 15th over. Pick of the bowlers were Leon Borstlapp (3 for 9 off 4 overs) and Ross Wade (2 for 0 from 1.1 overs). Borstlapp and Charles Wolrige-Gordon opened the batting for Ellon and got straight to the task, dealing mainly in boundaries. The game came to an end when Borstlapp hit a straight flat 6 into the bandstand off the 29th ball of the innings to take Ellon over the line and himself to an unbeaten 31. Wolrige-Gordon finished 8 not out.
Grammar 98 recorded a 33 run victory over Dutchmill at the the Links. Batting first, Grammar 98 made 154 for 5 from their 20 overs, with Scotty Anderson (33 no) and Grant Jamieson (28) doing some of the damage with the bat. Pick of the bowlers for the Mill was Rory Taylor (1 for 10 off 4 overs). In reply, Dutchmill fell short, finishing on 121 for 6 at the close, with Ali Hutton retiring on 30.
Chevron suffered their second defeat on the spin, losing by 17 runs to ATSSC at the Shed. ATSSC batted first and reached 157 for 5 off 20 overs. In reply, Chevron made 140 for 4.
St Ronald recorded their 2nd victory of the season, beating Grammar Hockey by 5 wickets in a very close, high scoring match at DP 3. Grammar Hockey batted first and set a very good target of 150 for 4. St Ronald reached their target in the last over, scoring 151 for 5.
