DeC Rebels increase margin at the top (Week 10)

A comprehensive victory for the DeC Rebels over Caledonian has increased their margin over Inn at the Park at the top of the table. The Park recorded a  comfortable victory over MCC. Ellon also remain in contention for the title following a win over Grammar Hockey. There were also wins for Methlick, ATSSC and Chevron.

Dec Rebels entertained Caledonian at DP1. Caledonian won the toss and elected to bat. The Rebel's bowlers were on top with Rahul taking a six wicket haul (6 for 14 off 4 overs) and Bushie taking 2 for 10 off 4 overs. Caledonian were all out for 59 runs. In reply, the Rebels reached 64 for 2, with Vicky retiring on 30 and Rohit finishing off the innings with a six to record an 8 wicket victory - a victory that keeps the current champions ahead of Inn at the Park in the title race by a margin of 53.

Inn at the Park kept up their record of losing nearly every toss this season and fielded first against MCC at DP2. MCC lost early wickets against a tidy bowling attack for the Park and were eventually 50 AO. Pick of the bowlers for the Park were Masood (3 for 7 off 4 overs) and Mushie (3 for 10 off 4 overs). In reply, the Park reached 51 for the loss of 3 wickets to record a 7 wicket victory, with Dan contributing 20 n.o.

Ellon kept in contention for the title with a 8 wicket victory over Grammar Hockey at the Links. Grammar Hockey batted first and reached 74 a.o. after 19.1 overs, with contributions from N Blyth (18) and J.P.L Williams (16). Pick of the bowlers for Ellon were Ross Wade (3 for 6) and Aman (2 for 4). In reply, Ellon reached 78 for 2 in the 11th over, with Chris Watson retiring on 33 n.o. A result that keeps Ellon in the title race, but with a margin deficit of 148 to make up, Ellon will be looking for the Rebels to drop points.

Methlick recorded an impressive 65 run victory over Grammar 98 at the Shed. Batting first, Methlick made 165 for 7 off their 20 overs, with both Webb and Acton retiring on 30. Pick of the bowlers for Grammar 98 was Goval (3 for 30). In reply, Grammar 98 reached 100 a.o., with Grant Jamieson and Kieran Findlay both retiring after reaching 30. Rennie (3 for 11) and Webb (2 for 24) were the main wicket takers for Methlick.

ATSSC won their third match on the bounce with a 7 wicket victory over Dutchmill at DP3. Dutchmill batted first and made 95 for 8 off 20 overs, with A Bell retiring on 30. In reply, ATSSC reached 98 for 3.
