Thank you to all teams who took the time to forward information on their star performers of the year.
There were two main contenders for Batsman of the Year. The winner has been judged to be Martyn Budd from Grammar Hockey. Martyn scored a massive 210 runs this season from only 8 innings, with 5 not out / retirals, equating to an average of 70. A close runner-up was Dan Smith of Inn at the Park, scoring 182 runs from 8 innings, with 5 not out / retirals, equating to an average of 61. Well done to both. Martyn will receive an AECL tankard at the end of season prize ceremony to mark his achievement.
Bowler of the Year has been awarded to Rahul of the DeC Rebels. Rahul was the highest wicket taker this season, with 21 wickets from 29 overs, conceding only 110 runs along the way. This equated to an economy of 3.8 runs per over and a wicket every 5.2 runs. Rahul will also receive an AECL tankard.
Other contenders for the bowling award included Gavin Jamieson of Grammar 98, who took 10 wickets from 12 overs for the loss of only 38 runs. Although this equated to an economy of 3.2 runs per over and a wicket every 3.8 runs, a lack of overs throughout the season swung the decision towards Rahul. Mudassar Kazi from Inn at the Park also had a good season, taking 19 wickets from 33 overs for the loss of 170 runs.
