Shell Maintain Momentum; Granite, KR Also Win (Week 5)

Shell have moved to the top of the AECL table after a 59 run win over G98 at the Links.  Granite City and Knighriders also completed wins.  Cults v Bon Accord was off due to an unplayable pitch.  Details to follow...

Shell won the toss and chose to have first use of the Links pitch.  They scored quickly upfront through Akhlaq (25), Abrar (27), Jamal (31*) and Fazal (30*) and then thanks to some late blows from Anjum (19), a total of 174 for 7 was reached after 20 overs.  Ellon pair Chris Watson and Rich Greenfield picked up wickets, 3 for 22 and 2 for 37 respectively.  In reply, G98 struck 7 maximums to keep up with the rate and were 102 for 4 off 12 thanks to Callum Herd (32*) and Grant Jamieson (30*).  However, quick wickets fell and G98 ended up well short of the 175 target.

At Groats Road, Knightriders made it two wins in a row against The Rockhoppers.  KR won the toss, chose to bat and totalled 159 for 3 in their 20 overs; Rowan and Sajeev the main contributors with 31* and 30*.  In reply, The Rockhoppers reached 73 for 8 at the close with Paul O'Neil accounting for 28 of those runs.  Somu, 2 for 6, and Kannan, 3 for 11, did damage.

Up at Sheddocksley, Nexen looked for their first win of the season against a 10 man Granite City side by winning the toss electing to bat.  However they were shot out for 95 with Uday (31*) and Sri (25) the only notable run scorers.  Hamza and Ashish were in amongst the wickets with 3 each.  Granite City knocked off that total for the loss of 4 wickets inside 12 overs.  Hamza completing a good night's work finishing a knock of 32 with a six.  Indy also chipped in with 21.  Aftab Majeed took 2 for 18.
