Cults, Shell win to Keep G98, Bon Accord at Arm's Length (Week 8)

The top 4 in the AECL recorded victories over the bottom 4 as the league progressed beyond the half way point.

Cults batted first at Allan Park scoring 130 for 7 in a game reduced to 18 overs thanks to Shiraz with 26 and Phil with 25.  In reply, The Rockhoppers were all out for 72 with Avijeet scoring 30.

Bon Accord kept in touch with the leaders with a 65 run win over Nexen.  Bon Accord batting first made 166 for 5 with Niwaz Mirza retiring on 35 and N. Ali on 31.  Nexen's reply was cut short by S. Ahmed and Khurram who claimed 3 and 2 wickets respectively; Jamil (28) and Sharth (26) narrowly missing out on unbeaten innings.

At the Links, Grammar98 won the toss against Knight Riders and elected to get batting out of the way on a pitch not fit for cricket.  They ground their way through 19 overs to 97 all out thanks largely to 29 from Rob Swiergon.  Prabhu and Prem Ballal both ended with figures of 3-25 for KR.  In reply, KR had the game all but wrapped up at 69 for no loss after 10 overs with Siva retiring on 33 and Rowan retiring on 31.  However G98 managed to take the remaining 8 wickets in 7 overs for just 20 runs to dismiss Knight Riders 9 runs short of the winning post.  Adam McHoul (4 for 7) and Andy Russell (3 for 25) can stake claim to match winning spells.
