Evening League Returns!

After a long lay off due to weather, the league finally got some fixtures completed. Two of the games went ahead as Bon Accord failed to get a team together and so scratched against Academy.

Knightriders got the better of Cults to move up the table. Cults could only manage 94 in their allotted overs and were thankful for a 30* from Ankush. The best of Knightriders came from Ayapan (2/9) and Bijin (2/13) Cults batted out their 20 overs and finished on 94/8.

In reply, Knightriders chased the total down in 15.3 overs for the loss of only 3 wickets. Their total included two retirees, Somu (33*) and Madhan (30*). For Cults, Ankush followed up his batting with a wicket (1/9) but could not prevent a comfortable Knightriders' victory.

In the other game at Allans Park, Shell ran out comfortable winners to maintain their 100% start to the league. Winning the toss and electing to bat, Shell scored an imposing total of 179 after losing their final wicket in the last over. Two early LBWs for Veera (2/36) and some tight bowling from Van Oorschot (0/27) gave Rockhoppers an early sniff but Akhlaq and Nadeem combined and put the change bowlers to the sword. They both retired on 33* and some late hitting from the lower order kept the scoreboard climbing. A. Toor hitting a flourish of boundaries in his 25* and Shah hit his first ball for 6 off Jamil (2/20). S. Lings, C. Bell and S. Middleton also all finished with a wicket each.

In response, Rockhoppers lost an early wicket as S. Middleton was bowled by Moiz. D. Barman at 3 hit some quick boundaries and raced o 15 before also being bowled by Moiz. Wickets fell frequently and Rockhoppers were well behind the rate when B. Lynas fell for 13. The two opening bowlers stemmed any hope. Moiz finished with fine figures of 4/14. A glimmer of hope arose as Chaund and Van Oorschot combined for the 6th wicket at put together a rapid partnership. Van Oorschot finished his 30* with a pair of sixes. Jamil also hit an early six but Rockhoppers lost Chaund for a composed 27 to the bowling of Toor (3/5). Jamil (14) was the 9th wicket (also to Toor) and the win was wrapped up three bowls later to bowl Rockhoppers out for 127 and seal a 42 run victory.
