Chevron hit top spot (Week 4)

After recording a thumping victory over Caley at the Links, Chevron now sit proudly at the top of the table by way of a better margin. Also sitting on 6 points are the DeC Rebels, Inn at the Park and Dutchmill - the Mill losing their 100% record at the hands of the Park.

Caley batted first at the Links and were restricted to 113 for 4 off their 20 overs. In reply, Chevron reached 116 for 1 in the 17th over to record a comprehensive 9 wicket victory, sufficient to take them to the top of the table.

The DeC Rebels and Grammar 98 shared over 300 runs at Duthie Park 2, with the reigning champions the Rebels again getting the better of their closest rivals from last year, recording a 4 wicket victory. G98 batted first and set a very respectable total of 159 for 5 off their 20 overs. Star performers with the bat were Grant (33n.o.), Pete the Lefty (34n.o.) and Rich Pedley (35n.o.) - all of whom retired courtesy of a six!! Pick of the bowlers was Rahul, with a cracking spell of 3 for 17 off 4 overs. In reply the Rebels got off to a flyer, with Bala (33 n.o.) retiring inside 4 overs. Swapnil (24), Rahul (28) and Shiraz (25n.o.) all made telling contributions as the Rebels reached 160 for 6 in the 18th over. Pick off the bowlers was Rich Pedley, making a guest appearance, with 3 for 26 off 3 overs. Grant reached an unwanted milestone in G98's short history with his 4 overs being dispatched for 56 runs!! Surely it must have been poor fielding ??

Grammar Hockey recorded their second win on the bounce with a 27 run victory over ATSSC at Duthie Park 1. Grammar batted first and reached 144 for 7 in their 20 overs, with Martyn Budd and John Thomson both retiring on 32 runs. In reply, ATSSC were bowled out for 117 in the 19th over, with D. McDonald (35n.o) and Andy Win (32 n.o) both retiring.

Methlick recorded their second win of the season with a 20 run victory over MCC at the Shed. Batting first, Methlick reached 125 for 3 off their 20 overs, with S Murphy (32n.o.) and B Webb (30n.o.) making telling contributions. Pick of the bowlers was Sri (1 for 13 off 2 overs). In reply, Sandeep (22) and Chetan (20) helped MCC reach 105 all out. James Buchan was the star performer with the ball for Methlick, with figures of 5 for 13 off 4 overs.

Ellon recorded a comprehensive 9 wicket victory over St Ronald at the Shed. Batting first, St Ronald reached 108 for 9 in their 20 overs. In reply, Ellon reached 109 for 1 in the 11 over.

Dutchmill's unbeaten run came to an end at the hands of Inn at the Park at Duthie Park 3. Facing a target of 87 all out, the Park reached 88 for 6 in reply (more details to follow).
