Oxy Cup Final Postponed

Unfortunately Mannofield is unplayable tonight due to the recent rain and therefore the Cup final is postponed. The square is too wet. Other available dates will be investigated and advised ASAP.

Every opportunity will be given to play this match at Mannofield. In recent years we have brought forward the cup competition to give us a few weeks fall back should the weather intervene. We are looking to complete this match within the next two weeks due to the fading light. Should Mannofield be unavailable, alternative grounds will then be looked at.

League 1: DeC Rebels beat Legends to take title (Week 9)

Although all eyes were on the league decider at Allan Park Stadium, we must start with the match between ATSSC and Caledonian at DP2. This was Caley's last opportunity to record a victory in the AECL this season, currently sitting pointless at the bottom of the table. ATSSC batted first and posted at total of 105 for 7. In reply, Caley were closing in on their first victory. The scores were tied on 105.....4 wickets in hand.....then calamitus maximus. The last 4 wickets fell for 0 runs with the last wicket a brilliant 'billy the fish' like diving catch, high and to the right by G.Skinner in the covers. Quite a finish. The only consolation for Caledonian is that their first point of the season is now secured!

An overcast evening greeted both teams at APS as the Legends and Rebels faced each other in a league decider. Gilly wandered out to the middle and finally proved what a useless tosser he was as Naru called correctly and the Rebels elected to bat.

In the other rescheduled match, Kings XI recorded a 3 wicket victory over Chevron in a closely fought match on DP3.
Dare Devils to meet Legends in Cup Final

The Legends will meet the Dare Devils in the Oxy Cup Final on Wednesday 28th July at Mannofield following wins over the DeC Rebels and ATSSC respectively. The Legends beat the Rebels by 7 runs in a close encounter on DP1. The Dare Devils recorded a 5 wicket victory over ATSSC in a low scoring encounter on DP2 after dismissing the opposition for only 66 runs.

Many thanks to Jim Stephen, Masud Javaid, Chris Watson and Stuart Clark for taking the time to be neutral umpires on the night.

League 2: MCC beat Kings XI (Week 8)

RGU Tomahawks were free this week, after the withdrawl of Dutchmill.

There were wins this week for MCC and GPoR over the Kings XI and Chevron respectively. Ellon and Grammar 98 had the opportunity to relocate from Kings College (don't ask) to the Links, however both teams agreed to reschedule again as they were both struggling to field a team. The Wednesday match between the Royal Challengers and BP was postponed due to the rain.

League 1: DeC Rebels remain unbeaten (Week 8)

It was the turn of the Dare Devils to sit out this week (their match against Aberdeen University void after the University side's withdrawl from the AECL).

The DeC Rebels remain top of the table after a comprehensive victory over Inn at the Park on DP1. The Rebels won the toss, elected to bat first and posted a daunting total of 179 for 4 off 20 overs. Narendra (31 no) Siddesh (33 no), Kapil (34 no) and Vickram (34 no) all retired unbeaten. Pick of the bowlers for the Park were AndyC (3-0-22-1) and Sajid (4-0-19-0). In reply, the Park had a shocker of a start, starting their innings with three 3 ducks. Aqeel (35 no) and Masud (21) settled things down and halted the wicket frenzy for a while, however it was one way traffic and the Park eventually fell 66 runs short on 113 AO. Pick of the bowlers for the Rebels were Rahul (3-24) and Bhushan (2-9).

A little help with rescheduling matches

REFER TO THE FIXTURES TAB FOR RESCHEDULED MATCHES

There are 6 previously postponed matches still to be rescheduled before the end of the season (last date for a match is Tuesday 3rd August). Tuesday/Wednesday July 20th/21st is a 'free week' for those not in the Oxy Cup, so an opportunity to play some of the outstanding matches. The Legends and ATSSC are still in the Oxy Cup, so their remaining matches against IATP and St Ronald respectively have been given a provisional date of Tuesday 3rd August. There is the opportunity to play 3 matches on Tuesday 20th July (in red) and the Royal Challengers v RGU Tomahawks match on Wednesday 21st July.
