Shell and Cults strengthened their positions at the top of the AECL with wins over Knightriders and Granite City.  Nexen picked up their first win of the season against The Rockhoppers.  Bon Accord beat G98.  Details to follow...

The game of the evening undoubtedly took place at Groats Road where Shell won the toss and elected to bat.  However, they found scoring difficult amidst a tight bowling and fielding display from KR.  Only Jamal and Akhlaq made telling totals with 33* and 22.  Victims were shared around with the ball but Kannan returned the best figures of 2 for 14.  In reply, Selva helped Knights keep with the the scoring rate by amasing a total of 32.  However, wickets had fallen steadily and KR required 3 runs from the final over with just 2 wickets remaining.  Balls 1 and 2 were dots, before the 3rd ball was hit to mid off and the catch was held.  The 4th ball also yielded no run and at 3 to win off 2 balls, the final KR batsmen Vinodh could only offer a return catch to the bowler Fazal; Shell sneak home by just 2 runs.

Shell have moved to the top of the AECL table after a 59 run win over G98 at the Links.  Granite City and Knighriders also completed wins.  Cults v Bon Accord was off due to an unplayable pitch.  Details to follow...

Shell won the toss and chose to have first use of the Links pitch.  They scored quickly upfront through Akhlaq (25), Abrar (27), Jamal (31*) and Fazal (30*) and then thanks to some late blows from Anjum (19), a total of 174 for 7 was reached after 20 overs.  Ellon pair Chris Watson and Rich Greenfield picked up wickets, 3 for 22 and 2 for 37 respectively.  In reply, G98 struck 7 maximums to keep up with the rate and were 102 for 4 off 12 thanks to Callum Herd (32*) and Grant Jamieson (30*).  However, quick wickets fell and G98 ended up well short of the 175 target.

Three teams remain undefeated after week 4 of the 2015 AECL as G98, Shell and Cults recorded victories.  There was also a win for Granite City.

At the Links, Shell made light work of the Bon Accord batting line up, rolling them over for 85 thanks to 4 for 8 from Naveed Raza.  Waqas scored 33* for Bon Accord.  In reply, 32 from Naveed saw Shell home by 7 wickets.

At Sheddocksley, G98 won the toss and opted to bat against The Rockhoppers.  In doing so, they chalked up 167 for 6 with Scott Anderson (27 off 20), Rob Swiergon (30* off 19) and Chris Watson (25 off 14) scoring quickly upfront before Kieran Findlay (28* off 19) and Callum Herd (14* off 7) struck some late blows at the death.  Satya bowled well and took 3 for 43 for The Rockhoppers.  The Rockhoppers did not start their chase in the best of manners, finding themselves 4 wickets down after 4 overs and at the mercy of slow-medium bowler Ian Lumsden.  A. Saida (23) and S. Mountain (20) showed resistance in the middle but The Rockhoppers were all out for 64 in the 19th over.  Lumsden finished with 4 for 12, and Kieran Findlay 3 for 2 as the pair shared the majority of the wickets.

Knightriders and Bon Accord played through the rain to secure wins over Nexen and The Rockhoppers respectively.  G98 vs. Granite City and Cults vs. Shell postponed due to rain.

Bon Accord made light work of The Rockhoppers at Links 4 thanks to S. Ahmed's 6 for 4 - an early front runner for best bowling figures of the season.  R. Loomes (25) and G. Bolla (17) accounted for almost two-thirds of the Rockhopper runs.  The total was chased down by Bon Accord for the loss of 3 wickets with Sadiq reaching 30.

Opening day wins for Bon Accord, G98, Shell and the newly formed Cults.

At Allan Park, Cults batted scoring 132 for 6 in a game reduced to 18 overs a side; Krishna (35*) and Nikhil (30*) retiring.  In reply, KR were shot out for 107 with only Nishad (33*) showing any real resistance.

At Kings, Nexen won the toss and opted to bat.  In a game chopped down to 17 overs a side, Sri scored 24 at the top of the order as Nexen started in a hurry.  This was backed up soon after by Himanshu (30*) but Chris Watson (2-10) and Kieran Findlay (2-24) put the breaks on somewhat as Nexen were poised for a big total. Geet (18*) and Amol (20*) finished strong as Nexen ended on 129 for 6.  G98's run chase start solidly with Rob Swerigon and Graham Oliver putting on 45 for the 1st wicket before Rob was castled for 25.  Graham reached 34 and from there contributions from Scott Anderson (16) and Chris Watson (15*) saw G98 home with 8 balls left.
